Pain is not the enemy.  It is here to teach us — and this is the season to listen.

Root is our annual Autumn Equinox celebration — an evening to pause as the light and dark come into balance, and to honor what this year's struggles have shown us before we turn toward what's next.  We gather to paint, to plant, and to reflect together on this month's theme:

Listening to Pain, Finding Wisdom.

There is something quietly powerful about making a home for a living thing with your own hands — painting the vessel, choosing the plant, setting it in soil.  It's a small, physical act of rooting into the season ahead, carrying forward what you've learned and letting the rest fall away, the way leaves do this time of year.

What to Expect

• Arrive into a relaxed evening at Hapke's Hortum — cider and a seasonal treat as you settle in
• Welcome and opening reflection on the equinox and this month's theme
• Paint your own 4-inch pot, then choose a live houseplant to plant and take home
• Facilitated conversation while we create — reflecting on what this season has taught us
• A simple equinox ritual — naming what you're ready to root into as the season turns
• Closing circle — one word for the season ahead

What to Bring

• Yourself — come as you are, ready to get a little messy 🌿
• Clothes you don't mind getting paint on (or an apron, if you prefer)
• An open heart for reflection — that's the only real requirement

An intimate evening — space is limited to 25.
