Moving Through Mental Fog
There are days when the world feels heavy.
Maybe it’s the to-do list that never ends. The way anxiety hums beneath the surface. Or the simple ache of being human in a noisy, distracted world.
During Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to remind you of something powerful:
You don’t have to “fix” yourself to feel better.
You can start by simply moving.
Not for calories. Not for performance. But for clarity. For presence. For peace.
In my coaching, I call this purposeful movement. Whether it’s a walk in the woods, gentle stretching on the back porch, or dancing barefoot in the kitchen—these moments reconnect you to you.
When your body moves, your mind begins to settle. Thoughts slow down. Emotions soften. Suddenly, the fog lifts—just a little—and you remember, I’m okay. I’ve got this.
BodyMind Tool: The 5-Minute Reset Walk
- Step outside or near a window.
- Breathe in through your nose, long and deep.
- As you walk or move slowly, whisper internally: I am here. I am safe.
- With each step, feel the ground support you. Let go of the mental noise.
- Finish by placing your hands on your heart and asking: What do I need today?
You don’t need a full workout. You don’t need perfect weather. You just need a moment to return to yourself.
This month, let your movement be a love note to your nervous system. A reminder to your mind and body that you matter. Your mental health matters. And small, intentional steps can shift everything.
