Your Body Is Talking

Emotion Is the Wind
Stand outside long enough and you'll feel it before you can name it — the air changes before a storm arrives. The wind picks up ten minutes before the rain does. The mountain always tells you what's coming, if you're still enough to notice.
Your body does the same thing. And this month, we're learning to listen.
There's a phrase I come back to again and again in this work: the body doesn't lie. It doesn't perform. It doesn't manage impressions. It just tells the truth, in its own language — and one of the clearest words in that language is emotion.
Emotion is the wind moving through you. It arrives, it carries something, and — if you let it — it passes on. It's not a flaw in the system. It's the system working exactly as it should. Deepak Chopra said it simply: emotions aren't meant to be suppressed — they're meant to be acknowledged, understood, and moved through.
Here's what most of us were never taught: the vast majority of the communication happening between your body and your brain is traveling up — body to brain, not the other way around. Your body isn't waiting for your mind to tell it how to feel. It's already telling your mind. The question is only ever whether we're listening.
I think about this often with the women I work with — on the table, in the Circle, in coaching. So many of us learned, early and thoroughly, to manage our emotions rather than move through them. To keep the wind from showing on our face. And I understand why — but I've watched, over and over, what happens when a woman lets herself feel the whole gust instead of holding it back. Something in her shoulders drops. Something in her breath opens. She isn't smaller for having felt it. She's more herself.
This week, I'm not asking you to overhaul anything. Just this: the next time you feel something rise — the flutter, the heat, the ache — try pausing long enough to let it be wind instead of weather you have to fight. Notice it. Name it, if you can. Let it move through you the way wind moves through trees, instead of the way it moves through a wall.
You don't have to do this alone. That's exactly what the Circle is for.
